Larkin & Lacey Frontera Fund and Other Leading Human Rights Organizations

Every human being has rights. To effectively push for people’s rights, different civil, human and migrant rights advocacy groups have been established both locally and internationally. These organizations operate in the various countries but are primarily concentrated in the United States. An example of international human rights advocacy organizations is the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR). Local organizations, on the other hand, include Black Alliance for Just Immigration, Anti-Defamation League, and Alliance for Justice (AFJ).

OHCHR

This organization has was formed after the World Conference on Human Rights of 1993. The agency safeguards human rights for people across the world and is guided by the international law that is provided for in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights of 1948.

The organization is headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland and is estimated to have a workforce of not less than 1000 people.

The High Commissioner for Human Rights (HCHR) is the highest decision-making authority within OHCHR. He or she is mandated with the responsibility of supervising the Human Rights Council and manages a budget of not less than $177 Million. Prince Zeid Bin Ra’ad from Jordan is the current High Commissioner and is deputized by Kate Gilmore from Australia.

Black Alliance for Just Immigration

BAJI is an American human rights advocacy group whose interest is to fight for a multiracial democracy.

The organization brings together African-American immigrants so that together they can be strong enough to defeat racial discrimination in the United States.

This came as a result of rampant cases of total disregard of African-American in America, which threatened the very existence of the largest democracy in the world.

The Anti-Defamation League

This organization operates more or less in the same way as BAJI, only that it fights for the rights of Jewish-Americans. The organization has been in existence since 1903 and has been pushing for better business and cultural ties between the U.S. and Israel.

Alliance for Justice

AFJ is also based in the United States. The primary concern for this organization is that there be equity and justice in the American society. The organization puts to task the American Judiciary to ensure that no single citizen is denied justice for whatever reason.

Larkin & Lacey Frontera Fund

The Larkin & Lacey Frontera Fund fights for migrants rights in Arizona. It was co-founded by Jim Larking and Michael Lacey, two former journalists with Phoenix net Times. The duo had for a long time had the passion for solving human rights to the point of being jailed illegally for it. Jim and Michael were compensated after the jail term and used the money to set-up the Larkin & Lacey Frontera Fund.
