Who doesn’t like to unwind at the end of the day with a delicious ice cold Canadian draft beer. Dating back to 1617, we have Louis Hebert and his wife to thank for becoming the first brewers of the Canadian beer. Fast forward to 2017, we now have a variety of explosive flavors such as The IPA Pale ale/ which as the professionals say, it is a bit “hoppier” than most pale beers, the Weissbier beer, beginner -beer drinkers are going crazy for this one for its “no aftertaste”. Or the Brasseurs Sans Gluten beer from The Brew Brewery in Montreal, describing their beer as a ruby red grapefruit (LinkedIn).
Now, we could go on about the bitter taste of an exquisite IPA all day, But let’s go a little deeper into the world of the brewery in Canada, Aye!
Meet Eli Gershkovitch, the founder, and CEO of Steamworks Brew Pub, One of Canada’s most notable breweries. In his days before brew was his passion, Eli Gershkovitch was a pilot! His love for flying also turned into a love for classic cars. While building his collection of classic cars he began to evolve into the brewery business. Opening up Steamworks Pub in 1995, Eli Gershkovitch started from the ground up. Gershkovitch states “his come up was an organic evolution”. His humbling beginning started at only 184 booster chairs, now adds up to 754 after Gershkovitch’s expansion in 2013. Eli states ” Craft beer is now all of a sudden ‘the thing to do’ I was apart of the first wave in the 1990’s, and now I am a part of the second wave’.
Canadian Go-ers pass by in awe as they gaze at the now Steamworks Brewery, formally known as just a pub. Eli Gershkovitch is now selling products in multiple Canadian Stores and 14 U.S states as well as over – seas.
Eli Gershkovitch still resides in Canada, enjoying his ever-growing brewery, collecting his classic cars, and travel via his two planes.
